All but one of the authentic pages and fragments of O are housed in the archives of the LDS Historical Department one-half of a sheet (from 1 Nephi 14) is owned by the University of Utah. Today approximately 25 percent of the text of O survives: 1 Nephi 2 through 2 Nephi 1,with gaps Alma 22 through Helaman 3,with gaps and a few other fragments. The surviving pages were handed out to various individuals during the 1880s. Over forty years later, Lewis Bidamon, Emma Smith's second husband, opened the cornerstone and found that water seepage had destroyed most of O. In October 1841, Joseph Smith placed O in the cornerstone of the Nauvoo House. ![]() However, in producing the 1840 edition, Joseph Smith used O to restore some of its original readings. The original manuscript was not consulted for the editing of the 1837 edition. It is wholly extant except for two lines at the bottom of the first leaf. In 1903 Whitmer's grandson sold P to the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which owns it today. After his death in 1850, his brother-in-law, David Whitmer, kept P until his death in 1888. After the publication of this edition, P was retained by Oliver Cowdery. In preparation for the second (1837) edition, hundreds of grammatical changes and a few textual emendations were made in P. These same marks appear on one fragment of the original, indicating that it was used at least once in typesetting the 1830 edition. The compositor for the 1830 edition added punctuation, paragraphing, and other printing marks to about one-third of the pages of the printer's manuscript. About twenty of these errors were corrected in the 1981 edition. Because they were all relatively minor, most of the errors thus introduced into the text have remained in the printed editions of the Book of Mormon and have not been detected and corrected except by reference to the original manuscript. Most of the changes are minor, and about one in five produce a discernible difference in meaning. These changes appear to be natural scribal errors there is little or no evidence of conscious editing. There are on the average three changes per original manuscript page. 9 Howe’s additional research convinced him that Joseph Smith obtained the manuscript through an intermediary, Sidney Rigdon: We are, then, irresistibly led to this conclusion. The printer's manuscript is not an exact copy of the original manuscript. In the book, Howe reproduced eight affidavits from Spaulding acquaintances who recalled remarkable similarities between Manuscript Found and the Book of Mormon. ![]() It was begun in July 1829 and finished early in 1830. This copy is called the printer's manuscript (P), since it was the one normally used to set the type for the first (1830) edition of the Book of Mormon. This manuscript was begun no later than April 1829 and finished in June 1829.Ī copy of the original was then made by Oliver Cowdery and two other scribes. The most important scribe was Oliver Cowdery. The first, called the original manuscript (O), was written by at least three scribes as Joseph Smith translated and dictated. The printed versions of the Book of Mormon derive from two manuscripts. See this page in the original 1992 publication.

Different Types of Rivets Available for Manufacturing Copper material is a great conductor of electricity, making copper rivets most preferred in water and electrical appliances. It has a remarkable ability to conduct heat and electricity. CopperĬopper is a flexible material, both in its appearance and applications. These attributes render brass rivets the most suitable kind in gas appliances. As a result of its properties, Brass cannot create sparks. It has quite a fascinating resistance to tarnish and equally high strength. Brassīrass is a flexible, low-friction, and supple material. Furthermore, aluminum is quite malleable hence, it allows you to create complex part configurations easily. Aluminum material offers a strong deterioration resistance, and it is suitable for several applications. It is recognized for its tenderness and its lightweight attribute. AluminumĪluminum is another metal variant with a renowned usage for rivets and fasteners. These stainless rivets are employed for their ability to resist corrosion. These are the kind of rivets for locomotive, aircraft, and power-producing industries. The stainless steel rivets are considerably hard, strong, and withstand deterioration. Rivets made with high carbon steels require more material while their moldability decreases. In addition, it is highly flexible and adaptive compared to rigid high carbon steel rivets. This is due to its ability to clinch or fit well in its application. Steels with low carbon properties are suitable for rivets applications. Therefore, it is advisable to select a rivet-making material that matches the properties of the parts you are about to join together. With these vast materials, rivets now have unlimited applications. Designers and manufacturers choose these different materials to satisfy their needs. They include steel, copper, brass, aluminum, copper, and stainless steel. There are several metal materials for manufacturing rivets. Joints put together using rivets are always heavier than those brazed or welded. ![]() Riveting does not usually guarantee a tight and leak-proof joint. The hammer blowing produces a loud noise. By this time, some Jews were already living in Diaspora. ![]() ĭuring the Hellenistic period, the ancient harvest festival also became a day of renewing the Noahic covenant, described in Genesis 9:8-17, which is established between God and "all flesh that is upon the earth". The actual mention of fifty days comes from Leviticus 23:16. In Jewish tradition the fiftieth day was known as the Festival of Weeks. In Exodus 34:22 it is called the "firstfruits of the wheat harvest." The date for the "Feast of Weeks" originally came the day after seven full weeks following the first harvest of grain. The Festival of Weeks is also called the feast of Harvest in Exodus 23:16 and the day of first fruits in Numbers 28:26. In Judaism the Festival of Weeks ( Hebrew: שבועות, romanized: Shavuot) is a harvest festival that is celebrated seven weeks and one day after the first day of Passover (the Feast of Unleavened Bread) in Deuteronomy 16:9 or seven weeks and one day after the Sabbath referred to in Leviticus 23:16. The other days of the week are sometimes called Whit Monday, Whit Tuesday, and so on. The weekend or week including Pentecost are also called Whitsun or Whitsuntide, which arose from redividing Whitsunday as Whitsun day. The native English word Whitsunday, "White Sunday" ( Old English: Hwita Sunnandæg), probably derives from the white robes worn by the newly baptized on Pentecost. The term has also been used in the literature of Hellenistic Judaism by Philo of Alexandria and Josephus. The Septuagint translators also used the word in two other senses: to signify the year of Jubilee (Leviticus 25:10) an event which occurs every 50th year, and in several passages of chronology as an ordinal number. The term Pentecost appears in the Septuagint as one of the names for the Festival of Weeks. The Septuagint uses the term Pentēkostē to refer to the "Feast of Pentecost" twice in the Book of Tobit and 2 Maccabees, which for Catholics are part of the Bible but for Protestants are deuterocanonical/ apocryphal books in the Bible. It is also known as the "Feast of Weeks" and the "Feast of 50 days" in rabbinic tradition. It refers to the Jewish festival of Shavuot celebrated on the fiftieth day after Passover. The term Pentecost comes from the Greek Πεντηκοστή ( Pentēkostē), meaning "fiftieth". The Monday after Pentecost is a legal holiday in many European, African and Caribbean countries. Since its date depends on the date of Easter, Pentecost is a " moveable feast". Many Christian denominations provide a special liturgy for this holy celebration. Pentecost is one of the Great feasts in the Eastern Orthodox Church, a Solemnity in the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church, a Festival in the Lutheran Churches, and a Principal Feast in the Anglican Communion. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:1–31). Pentecost (also called Whit Sunday, Whitsunday or Whitsun) is a Christian holiday which takes place on the 50th day (the seventh Sunday) after Easter Sunday. Jesus Day, Shavuot, Rosalia, Green Week, Pinkster, Whit Monday, Whit Tuesday, Whit Friday, Trinity Sunday ![]() The writers (Duncan Jones, Charles Leavitt, and Chris Metzen) spent time developing them and their backstories. I want to get to know these Warcraft characters more. Industrial Light & Magic did a great job here. They’re not exactly pretty, but the realism of the actors’ portrayals is evident in every movement and expression. Their teeth are different shapes and sizes. Each orc is given individuality, including roughed-up characteristics that add to the realism. Usually, it sticks out or features movements that just don’t look realistic. The orcs are CGI, and honestly, this is the first time I’ve seen CGI done in a way that makes me forget all about it. That’s the kind of scale we’re talking about. At one point in the movie, a human man picks up the finger of an orc, and he has to wrap his whole hand around that one finger. Pretty much half of Warcraft‘s characters are orcs, a fantasy race with occasionally green-ish skin and hulking muscles. The CGI is Awesome Read more about the CGI and see pictures of the actors on Collider here and here. My expectations were medium - it was probably going to be entertaining in that forgettable way that action popcorn flicks tend to be.īut I have to say, I kind of loved this movie. I knew it was a fantasy and featured some big, brutal-looking orcs. Since I haven’t played World of Warcraft, I had no idea what I was getting into it. That surprised me, because from the trailers, Warcraft is nothing like Moon - but it definitely made me want to see the movie even more! I found out recently that it’s directed by Duncan Jones, who also directed one of my favorite films, Moon. ![]() This weekend I saw the movie Warcraft, which is based on the World of War craft video game. ![]() Image credit: OpenVPN (Image credit: OpenVPN) Import VPN profiles ![]() Agree to the license, accept the default settings unless you need to do otherwise, and click 'Install' to complete the process. Campbell is writing the memoir for Mr Tuvia Friedmann, Director of the Haifa Institute for the Documentation of War Criminals. Thus, in what is effectively a series of fragments, we learn that: In Israel The memoir uses Vonnegut’s familiar approach of not giving a chronological approach to Campbell’s life, but ranging far and wide over his former life, to pick out key moments and scenes. I am an American by birth, a Nazi by reputation, and a nationless person by inclination. The main text starts bluntly enough and very much in the tradition of much 19th century fiction: Just one of the numerous meta-fictional devices Vonnegut uses here and throughout his career. This is both designed to give hokey plausibility to the narrative’s provenance while drawing attention to its artificiality. The three-page introduction by Vonnegut uses the hokey old strategy of claiming that the author is merely presenting the authentic papers of a genuine historical figure, which he has edited and corrected in various detail.
